Colorado girl suing Jeff Sessions over medical marijuana, encouraged by recent FDA approval
A Denver Fox affiliate talked to our favorite cannabis champion (and friend of the show) Alexis Bortel, with her reaction to the FDA approval of the first ever cannabis based drug Epidiolex. which is essentially distilled cannabidiol in a delivery system that costs 00-00 a month in the pockets of Big Pharma, but a good collective could provide for under k or even less) And why Alexis will continue to fight Jeff Sessions in the Federal courts to get the WHOLE cannabis plant, including THC, descheduled., so she and other patients whose seizures aren’t controlled by CBD alone and need THC in order to control her seizure monster. #FreeThePlant #FreeThePeople #Pot4Peace

FOX31 report by MICHAEL KONOPASEK:

“DENVER — For the first time, the FDA has approved a drug derived from cannabis. The move is being celebrated by those who depend on marijuana to relieve pain and even stay alive. One of those individuals is Alexis Bortell, 12, of Larkspur.

Alexis has epilepsy and requires a cannabis medication to prevent seizures. She was forced to move from Texas to Colorado for treatment.

“I usually black out. I don’t remember [the seizures],” Alexis said.

Since the age of seven, Alexis has suffered daily seizures until coming to Colorado and starting a doctor-recommended THC hemp oil regiment. She consumes THC three times a day. She says she hasn’t had a seizure in three years.

“The THC really helped,” Alexis said.

THC is different from the newly FDA-approved CBD. While THC creates a high, CBD does not. For Alexis and others, CBD does not help.

The Bortell family is continuing its fight to get THC approved by the federal government. The family says it is encouraged by the recent progress.

“I think it’s great baby steps,” Alexis said.

The Bortell’s suit, now in the hands of an appeals court, argues Alexis cannot travel across state lines with her medication and is not allowed to visit federal property. That includes national parks and even post offices.

Oral arguments in the Bortell case are expected in the summer of 2018. FOX31 reached out to the U.S. Department of Justice– named in the lawsuit– for comment but have not heard back.”

  1. That is so ridiculous…never helping the people needing real help…

  2. Like Parkland students, it will take all people standing up one by one, and ironically,
" Just Say NO" to Fascism. Heartening to witness, younger people Standing Up. thanks
