Hundreds Line Up in D.C. For Free Marijuana Seeds

Hundreds Line Up in D.C. For Free Marijuana Seeds
Washington, D.C.—On March 27, hundreds of people lined up for blocks outside of Libertine bar in the city’s Adam’s Morgan neighborhood to get totally legal—and totally free—marijuana seeds.

“This is the end of the Cannabis Campaign,” says Adam Eidinger, chairman the DC Cannabis Campaign and organizer of the seed-sharing event.

Last November, D.C. residents voted in favor of Ballot Initiative 71, which legalized the possession of up to two ounces of marijuana. The initiative also allows residents to grow a small number of marijuana plants. “We’re seeing the new law in action,” says Eidinger. “People are picking up free seeds from people who are willing to share them and they are going to go home and grow marijuana in their homes in Washington D.C.”

About 90 seconds.

  1. Don't bring up how bad it is to be drunk only to defend pot. I believe in reform short of outright legalization. If you think it's bad for drunks to drive, what makes you believe the relaxed attitude on pot will keep stoned morons from driving high when our relaxed attitude on alcohol has drunk morons driving impaired.

  2. We need to legalize weed not for the benefits or lack there of, but rather to bring back the freedom of Americans who are going to smoke pot anyway.  No sense overburdening our justice system with laws that only affect those who just want to be left alone to do their own thing.  Now if they decide to smoke weed and then break the law (like driving under the influence) then they need to be held accountable.  Smoking pot does not free you of responsibility of your actions.

  3. Brain rot. Not that I have a problem with people being free to make their own choices, but still. The stuff dumbs you down. Makes you passive.

    No puff. I'll pass. Thanks.

  4. I wish that people would drop the whole "they want cannabis to smoke and get high".  Smoking has little benefits.  Eat it!  It's like, "i need some vitamin C, so i'm going to smoke an orange".

  5. In the early days of the push to decriminalize and legalize pot, there was the promise of fibers, textiles, oils, etc., farmed on less acreage with less pollution … real alternatives that opened entrepreneurial avenues should cannabis ever be legalized again … the direction has been to develop stronger, faster growing strains of stoney weed to be eaten or smoked … and now the moves toward legalization … So long as it doesn't interfere with established agricultural or industrial interests, its ok to allow more stoned citizens  … In fact, it may even be a benefit to government/corporatocracy …

  6. Kudos DC! ( I never thought I'd write 'Kudos' followed by 'DC')  From those of us here in Colorado who fought the good fight and also won!
