Several years ago, American Journal of Medicine Editor-in-Chief Dr. Joseph S. Alpert proposed more research into the use of cannabis. As more states have legalized marijuana and medical marijuana, more research is trickling out. The March 2019 issue of AJM includes two articles on marijuana: “Marijuana’s Effects on Brain Structure and Function: What Do We Know and What Should We Know?” by DeShazo et al and “Cannabis Legalization Does Not Influence Patient Compliance with Opioid Therapy” by Lo et al. Both of these articles are available as articles in press in advance of the publication date.
